DESCRIPTION:
These spiders are often large, about ½ inch long, and brightly colored yellow and black, or red and yellow. They build large, circular webs around doors and on vegetation.

| BIOLOGY: Orb weaver spiders are usually common in late summer and fall. They build their large webs in areas that have a lot of insects. This usually brings them to locations near outdoor lights on porches and around doors.
SOLUTION: Remove the webs in the evening by vacuuming. Reduce the use of outdoor lights near doors. These spiders are not dangerous, and are beneficial because they eat insects.
