Description: These insects are about 1/8 inch long and their color ranges form gray to black, some are metallic and shiny. They hop a short distance when disturbed.

Order: Collembola. Springtails live in damp places where they feed on decaying organic matter. They are common in soil, but they can move indoors when populations grow or conditions change.

Remove excess mulch from around doors and windows, keep these areas dry. Use a vacuum to remove from carpeting, use heater to dry the site they are found in.
